Our workshops and events bring together dancers, instructors, creatives, and members of the broader dance community. Everyone who participates is expected to contribute to an environment built on professionalism, respect, and integrity.

Samba With Love has consulted with legal counsel regarding this Code of Conduct and the standards outlined herein. The policies and expectations set out in this document are intended to support a safe, professional, respectful, and culturally conscious environment for all participants, instructors, partners, and members. 

 

1. Respect for Everyone
All participants are expected to:

• Treat instructors, fellow dancers, staff, guests, and event partners with courtesy and respect.

• Respect different levels of dance experience, backgrounds, identities, and perspectives.

• Encourage one another and contribute positively to the workshop or event environment.

• Respect personal boundaries and maintain appropriate professional conduct.

 
2. Respect for the Dance Community
Samba With Love recognizes that we are part of a larger dance and cultural community.
Participants are expected to show professionalism and respect toward:

• Neighbouring dance schools and studios.

• Independent instructors and dancers.

• Industry professionals and affiliates.

• Cultural organizations and community partners.

• Other dance companies, events, and collectives.

Competition or differences in teaching styles, businesses, events, or creative approaches are not an invitation for disrespect or hostility.

3. No Slander, Gossip, or Defamation
Slander, malicious gossip, rumours, personal attacks, or attempts to damage the reputation of another person, dance school, instructor, organization, or industry affiliate are not tolerated.

This includes:

• Spreading unverified or malicious information.

• Making defamatory or disparaging comments about others.

• Encouraging conflict or division within the dance community.

• Using a workshop or event as a platform to discuss or attack other dancers, instructors, schools, or organizations.

• Repeating private conversations or information with the intention of creating conflict.

• Making inappropriate comments online or in person about Samba With Love, its affiliates, or members of the broader dance community.

If you have a genuine concern or complaint, address it directly and professionally with the appropriate person rather than discussing it publicly or circulating it among others.

4. Professional Dance Environment
Samba With Love is a professional dance environment.
We expect participants to conduct themselves accordingly. Personal disagreements, interpersonal drama, gossip, and community conflicts should not be brought into workshops or events or used to disrupt the experience of others.
Our workshops and events are intended to be spaces where people can learn, dance, grow, connect, and enjoy the art form.

5. Social Media & Online Conduct
The same standards of respect apply online.
Participants are expected to exercise good judgment when posting, commenting, tagging, sharing, or discussing Samba With Love, its instructors, participants, affiliates, neighbouring schools, or members of the dance community.
Disagreement is permitted. Disrespect, harassment, bullying, targeted attacks, and malicious attempts to damage someone's reputation are not.

6. Addressing Concerns
If a concern arises during a workshop or event, please speak privately with the instructor or event organizer.
We encourage direct, respectful, and constructive communication rather than public confrontation, gossip, or escalation.

7. Enforcement
Samba With Love reserves the right to address conduct that conflicts with this Code of Conduct.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

• A verbal or written warning.

• Removal from a workshop or event.

• Refusal of participation in future workshops or events.

• Termination of a participant's involvement without refund where appropriate.
  
  Serious or repeated violations may result in immediate removal from a workshop or event.
  
  
  Nothing in this Code of Conduct limits Samba With Love’s right to take any lawful action necessary to protect its participants, instructors, reputation, intellectual property, business interests, or community relationships, including pursuing appropriate legal remedies or legal action where warranted.
